VP Nur's anti-NRC rally comes under attack

Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) vice-president Nurul Haque Nur has come under attack allegedly by Muktijoddha Mancha, a platform comprising descendants of freedom fighters.

The attack was carried out on him while addressing a rally protesting India's National Register of Citizens (NRC), and Citizenship (Amended) Bill of the country in front of the Anti Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture on the DU campus.

Witnesses said Aminul Islam Bulbul and Al Mamun, president and general secretary of one part of Muktijoddha Mancha respectively, along with their followers attacked VP Nur and others around 4:00pm, leaving Nur, DUCSU social service affairs secretary Akhtar Hossain, and eight others injuried.

The injured are now taking treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), and DU Medical Center.
