Fast unto death seeking job entry age limit to 35
Job seekers on Tuesday went on a fast unto death programme seeking extension of age limit to 35 from 30 for entering government jobs, after their 10-day mass hunger strike with same demand.
Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Parishad began the hunger strike in front of Jatiya Press Club from this morning.
In first day of the programme, coordinator of the council Reshma Akter fell sick and later she was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The protesters are: extension of the maximum age for entry into government jobs from 32 years to 35, reducing application fee and fixing it at Tk 50-100, holding recruitment tests at district or upazila level apart from capital Dhaka, and making specific policies as well as execution, including complete recruitment process within three to six months.
Chief coordinator of the organization Muzammel Miazi said they observed mass hunger strike wearing shrouds in front of Jatiya Press Club since December 6 to press home their four-point demand but no response they received from the government that agitated around 28 lakh educated youths.
As per previous announcement, they started fast unto death in front of the press club from Tuesday with the same demands.
