Four Bangladesh-origin candidates-- Tulip Siddiq, Rushnara Ali, Rupa Huq and Afsana Begum-- have been elected as Labour Party lawmakers in UK parliament.

Tulip Siddiq, niece of the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, again secured victory in her seat Hampstead and Kilburn.

She, daughter of the Bangladesh premier's sister Sheikh Rehana, defeated her Conservative rival Johnny Luk by 14188 votes.

Earlier in 2017 election, Tulip was elected Labour MP from the seat for the second time.

Rushnara Ali, the first Bangladesh-origin British lawmaker, retained her Bethnal Green and Bow seat.

Rupa Haque has been made Labour Party's MP for Ealing Central and Acton for the third time.

Afsana Begum bagged 38,660 votes to be elected from Poplar and Limehouse constituency for the first time while her Conservative rival got 9,756 votes.

Though the trio have won in respective seats, their Labour Party conceded defeat to the Conservative Party. UK Prime Minister Boris Jhonson won an overall majority in Thursday's general election, passing the 326-seat threshold with constituencies still to declare.
