Death toll rises to 9 in Keraniganj factory fire
The death toll from Dhaka’s Keraniganj factory fire rose to 9 as 8 burnt people died while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.
Eight of them were identified as Imran, Babul, Rayhan, Khalek, Salahuddin, Sujon, Jinarul Islam and Alam.
DMCH’s burn unit resident surgeon doctor Ariful Islam Nabin confirmed the deaths of eight people to Jago News.
The fire broke out at Prime Pet and Plastic Industries Limited at Chunkutia area in Keraniganj around 4:35pm on Wednesday.
One person died on the spot and thirty others were admitted to DMCH’s burn unit.
Causes of the fire could not be known but it was assumed that it might have been originated from gas cylinder expulsion.
