CCTV cameras installed in CJ’s courtroom
Eight closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were installed in the Chief Justice’s courtroom on Tuesday.
This is the first time CCTVs have been set up inside the higher courts in Bangladesh.
The decision came following the chaos created by pro-BNP lawyers during BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail hearing.
An Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain began the judicial proceedings under the CCTV surveillance on Wednesday morning.
Supreme Court spokesperson Mohammad Saifur Rahman said: "I don't know anything about it and will inform you later."
On December 5, the Chief Justice along with five other justices of the Appellate Division left the courtroom and the court had to stop work for three hours due to the chaos.
Later, the pro-BNP lawyers and pro-Awami League lawyers blamed each other for the incident.
