Defamation case filed against DUCSU VP Nur
A defamation case has been lodged against Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) vice-president Nurul Haque Nur.
DU Salimullah Muslim Hall Students' Union vice-president (VP) Muzahid Kamal Uddin filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman.
AKM Enamul Haque Rupam, a lawyer for the plaintiff, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Earlier, Muzahid told Jago News that Nur has defamed Dhaka University by his wrongdoings using the VP post.
On December 3, a private television aired a leaked audio clip of VP Nur's conversation over illegal exchange of money. The audio has also gone viral on social media.
But Nur claimed media broadcasted part of his phone conversation to confuse people. He called upon three media to apologize.
Amid this, DUCSU general secretary Golam Rabbani, who was removed from Bangladesh Chhatra League as its general secretary following extortion allegation, in a press conference on December 6 demanded VP Nur's resignation.
Nur, later, told the Jago News there is no information about the allegation of illegal money exchange made against him in the leaked audio clip.
