Two brothers murder: Death penalty for 4, life term for 7

Four people have been awarded death penalty and seven given life term imprisonment for hacking two brothers to death in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia.

Kushtia Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman handed down the verdict on Sunday morning.

The condemned convicts are Kamal Hossain Malitha of Golapnagar village, Kamrul Pramanik and Sumon Pramanik, and Nayan Sheikh of Fakirabad village in the upazila.

The lifers are Nazrul Sheikh, Abdur Rahim, Mahfuzur Rahman, Ridoy Ali, Ziaul Islam, Samrat Ali Pramanik and Ashraf Malitha of Fakirabad village in the upazila.

Sources in court said the condemned convicts and lifers hacked plaintiff's father Mojibor Rahman Master, uncle Mizanur Rahman and Minarul Sarder on April 25, 2016, leaving Mojibor dead on the spot.

Later Mizanur succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

After the killing, Zakarul lodged a case with Bheramara Police Station in this connection.

Advocate Anup Kumar Nandi, public prosecutor at Kushtia Court, said death sentence and life term were handed down against the accused after allegations of murdering the brothers were proved undoubtedy.
