Petrol pump strike in 26 dists underway

An indefinite strike has begun in the petrol pumps in Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions of the country with 15-point demand. 

Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Malik-Sramik Oikya Parishad started observing the strike from 6am on Sunday.  

Due to the work abstention, sale and transportation of fuel from the pumps in the three divisions remained shut, causing sufferings to customers.  

Earlier on November 26, Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Malik-Sramik Oikya Parishad announced they will go on an indefinite strike from December 1 if their 15-point demand is not met by November 30.

Some of the demands are: payment of 7.5 percent commission for selling fuel, introduction of accident insurance of Tk 5 lakh for Tank Lorry workers, increasing fare of Tank Lorry and an end to police harassment.
