Ctg gas pipeline blast claims 7 lives
Seven people were killed and at least 10 others sustained burn injuries in a gas line riser blast in Patharghata area of Chattogram city on Sunday morning.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Among the deceased, there were four male, two women and a child.
The incident took place in front of Barua Bhaban around 9am, confirmed Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defense deputy assistant director Purnachandra Service.
Being informed, four units of fire extinguishers rushed to the scene and are trying to put out the blaze, he said.
One side of the building damaged in the explosion, he official added.
However, the injured was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Alauddin Talukder, assistant sub-inspector of CMCH Police Outpost, told the Jago News that a total 17 people have, so far, been brought to the hospital. Among them, seven were declared dead.
Being informed, police went to the spot, said Kotwali Police Station officer in-charge Md Mohsin, adding that a wall collapsed in the explosion and fell on the pedestrians, causing the casualities.
