Rakib murder accused Sharif, Mintu on 5-day remand

A court here on Monday placed Sharif and Mintu, the two prime accused in the Rakib killing case, on a five-day remand, reports UNB.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Faruk Iqbal passed the order after Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Kazi Mostaque Ahmed, also investigation officer of the case, produced them before his court seeking a 10-day remand.

The duo was injured in a mob beating following the death of Rakib and was undergoing treatment at a local hospital under police custody.

Earlier on August 3, only minor boy Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his employers over quitting job.

Locals caught the two torturers -‘Sharif Motorcycle Garage’ owner Sharif and his brother Mintu and handed them over to the local police station after giving them a good beating.

Alam Haldar, victim’s father,  filed a case with Sadar Police Station against three people -- Sharif and Mintu, and their mother Beauty Akhter on Tuesday.

Police also arrested Beauty as she was present during the incident on the spot.
