Cyclone ‘Bulbul’ claims four lives
Severe cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ claimed, so far, lives of four people in four districts after it made landfall in Bangladesh early Sunday.
The cyclone uprooted trees, snapped road communications and damaged houses in coastal areas of the country, confirmed Jago News district correspondents.
Khulna district correspondent said a woman named Promila Mondal, 52, was killed after a tree fell on her during storm in Khulna’s coastal upazila Dacope around 10am on Sunday.
Youth Alamgir Hossain, 35, of Senhati village in Dighalia upazila of the district was killed by an uprooted tree under the force of winds.
Patuakhali correspondent said 65-year-old Hamed Fikir of North Rampur area in Mirzaganj upazila after a tree fell on his house under the force of winds.
Barguna correspondent said Halima Khatun, 65, of Banaigram in Sadar upazila died at DN College cyclone shelter.
Cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ made a landfall in Khulna and adjoining southwestern part of the country early Sunday and later weakened into a deep depression.
