Patuakhali district administration has begun to move people out of the coastal areas and take them to cyclone centers as cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ may hit Bangladesh today.

Deputy Commissioner Md Motiul Islam Chowdhury confirmed the matter around 9:30am on Saturday.

Met office has already asked Payra maritime port to hoist great danger signal number 10 as cyclone ‘Bulbul’ heads Bangladesh.

Under the influence of ‘Bulbul’, it has been raining mild to moderate in Patuakhali for last two days. Speed of wind rose somewhat since last night and sea swells.

Bashir Ahmed, acting officer in-charge of the district Met office, said rain has been recorded up to 27.6 millimeter from Friday midnight to 9am on Saturday.

DC Motiul yesterday said that they have completed all preparations to tackle the storm. As many as 403 cyclone shelters have been kept ready, he added.

The cyclone was centered about 525 km southwest of Chattogram port, 510 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 350 km southwest of Mongla port and 375 km southwest of Payra port at 6am on Saturday.
