Prothom Alo editor sued over Abrar’s death
Prothom Alo editor Motiur Rahman has been sued over the death of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) student Abrar Rahat.
Abrar’s father Mojibur Rahman filed the case with the court of Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haque on Wednesday.
The court ordered Mohammadpur police to complete the investigation and submit the report on December 1.
Earlier on November 3, a legal notice was served to Daily Prothom Alo seeking Tk 10 crore compensation over the death of Abrar.
On behalf of former student DRMC Obayed Ahmed, Supreme Court lawyer Faijullah Foyez sent the notice by post.
Abrar, a ninth-grader non-residential student of DRMC, was electrocuted by a power generator during a program organized by Kishor Alo, a monthy youth magazine of Daily Prothom Alo, on the school premises on November 1.
On November 2, Abrar’s father Mojibur Rahman filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station over the death.
