Ex-UP chairman shot dead in Rangamati

A former Union Parishad chairman was abducted and killed at Haludia Para in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Dipomoy Talukdar, a former chairman of Haludia Union Parishad. He was also a vice-president of BNP’s upazila unit.

Mafzal Ahmed Khan, officer-in-charge of Rajasthali Police Station, said armed criminals on motorbikes kidnapped Dipomoy from Haludia Para when he was returning home on Tuesday night.

He was later shot dead. Locals found Dipomoy’s body on Wednesday morning.

Police said they suspected that he might have been killed over previous enmity.
