12 get death for murder of lawyer’s assistant
A court has sentenced twelve people to death and two others to one year in jail in a case filed for the murder of a Dhaka Judges’ Court lawyer’s assistant Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan.
Dhaka’s 3 no. Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Monir Kamal passed the order on Monday.
The court also acquitted one person in the case.
The death-row convicts are Md Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan alias Mohub, Mozammel Haque Bhuiyan alias Badal Bhuiyan, Afzal Bhuiyan, Emdadul Haque alias Sikarit Bhuiyan, Nayan Bhuiyan, Bhulan Bhuiyan alias Bhulu, Ruhul Amin, Shipon Miah, Sultana Akter, Delwar Hossain, Bidhan Sanyasi and Nilufa Akter.
The convicts who got 1 year in jail are Taslima Akter and Shamim alias Faysal bin Ruhul. Both are on the run.
On October 22, 2015, Mobarak was killed over land feud. Later in the day, Mobarak’s younger brother Mozammel Haque Bhuiyan filed a case against 16 people with Bajitpur Police Station.
