Abrar murder: Sadat placed on 5-day remand
A court has placed ASM Najmus Sadat, a 17th batch student of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), on a 5-day remand in Abrar Fahad murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun passed the order after the investigation officer of the case and DB Inspector Wahiduzzaman produced him with a 10-day remand prayer on Wednesday.
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Sadat from Katla Bazar area under Birampur thana in Dinajpur district in the early hours of Tuesday.
Sadat’s name was mentioned in the murder case. The number of arrestees stood at 20 in the Abrar Fahad murder case with the arrest of Sadat.
Sadat, who remained fugitive after the killing incident, wanted to flee to India through Hili border of Dinajpur, according to DB.
Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering of BUET, was beaten to death on October 7 by Chhatra League leaders at BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall.
Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case at Chawkbazar Police Station on Monday evening accusing 19 people.
