Abrar murder: BUET accepts students’ 5-point demand
The authorities of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) today accepted the students’ 5-point demand.
The university issued a notice in this regard.
The demand of the students are permanent expulsion of those involved in the murder of Abrar after submission of charge sheet, issuance of official notice on bearing all expenses of Abrar murder case by BUET administration and compensation to his family, sealing off offices the student wing leaders of political parties, removal of illegal students from residential halls and issuance of notice banning organisational student politics on the campus.
However, the students postponed their demonstrations for the next two days due to the admission test scheduled to be held on Oct 14.
Earlier on Friday afternoon BUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Saiful Islam announced banning organisational student politics on campus and suspended 19 accused in Abrar Fahad killing case.
Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering, was beaten to death on Monday by Chhatra League leaders at BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall.
Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case at Chawkbazar Police Station on Monday evening accusing 19 people. So far, 18 accused have been arrested.
