2 ‘listed Yaba traders’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Two ‘listed Yaba traders’ were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Parjatan Bazar Uttar Mali hill area in Teknaf upazila early Saturday, reports UNB. 

The deceased were identified as Ahmed Hossain, 45, son of Hamid Hossain of Ghona area in Hatiya and Abdur Rahman, 46, of Block-D in Noyapara Rohingya Camp area.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, said when a team of police went to the area along with the two Yaba traders, who were arrested earlier, to recover Yaba and arms their cohorts opened fire on the law enforcers around 1:30 am.

Police fired back in self-defense, triggering a gunfight that left Ahmed and Abdur injured with bullet, the OC added.

They were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead, the OC said.
