A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against Sefat Ullah alias Sefuda, a Bangladeshi expatriate living in Vienna, Austria, in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Judge Ash-Shams Jaglul Hossain of Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal issued the warrant on Sunday.

The court also fixed November 19 to submit a compliance report.

The tribunal bench-clerk Shamim Al Mamun confirmed the matter to Jago News on Wednesday.

Earlier on April 23, advocate Md Alim Al Raji filed the case with the tribunal against Sefuda on charge of defaming the holy Quran on facebook live.

After recording statement of the plaintiff, Judge As-Shams Jaglul Hossain of the tribunal asked the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit to submit a probe report by May 15 after concluding an investigation over the incident.

According to the case statement, the plaintiff on April 9 saw on the facebook that the expatriate Bangladeshi Safuda made derogatory remarks on facebook live regarding the holy Quran which is hurting the religious sentiment of Muslims across the world.

Apart from this, the accused who is now staying in Austria earlier also made derogatory remarks involving Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on several occasions on facebook live, said the case statement.
