BSMRSTU VC resigns

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Khondoker Md Nasiruddin has resigned from his post amid ongoing protest of the students.

He submitted his resignation letter to Abdullah Al Hasan Chowdhury, additional secretary of the Ministry of Education on Monday.

Later, the official handed over the letter to Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.

Earlier, the VC had spoken verbally with the minister, deputy minister and senior secretary of the Education Ministry about his resignation.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said: “We have already received the report of the investigation committee formed by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Next steps will be taken after a discussion.”

To be noted, students of BSMRSTU in Gopalganj continued their demonstrations for 11 consecutive days, demanding the VC’s resignation.
