Verdict in Nusrat murder case on Oct 24

A Feni tribunal has fixed October 24 to give the verdict in the case filed over the murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a madrasa student who died after being set ablaze.

Judge Mamunur Rashid of Feni Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal fixed the date on Monday, after hearing the arguments of both sides.

On May 29, the Police Bureau of Investigation submitted a charge-sheet of 808 pages, accusing a total of 16 people in the case. 

On June 20, 16 accused was indicted by the tribunal. The judgement procedure began with examining the case’s complainant Noman in the court on June 27, and June 30.

The tribunal heard testimonies of 87 witnesses among 92.

The 18-year-old girl was tied up and set afire on the roof of the madrasa’s administration building before she could sit for the Alim exam equivalent to HSC on April 6.

Nusrat lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after the incident.
