RAB raids 2 AL leaders’ houses, seizes Tk 1 crore, gold
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted drives at two houses of Awami League (AL) leaders at Murgitola area in the capital at 10am on Tuesday.
The leaders are are Enamul Haque, president of Gendaria thana AL and its general secretary Rupon Bhuiyan. Both are the business partners of Wanderers Club where RAB conducted drive and seized Tk 2.27 million, fake notes worth Tk 20,500, gambling equipment along with large quantities of drugs and alcohol on September 18.
RAB couldn’t detain them as the duo didn’t present at their houses during the raids. The elite force members seized Tk 1.05 crore and 750 bhori gold ornaments from their houses.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Lieutenant Colonel Shafiullah Bulbul, Commander of RAB-3, said the drive is underway to detain them for interrogation.
Earlier, RAB and police raided different clubs in Dhaka and Chittagong and busted illegal casinos. Several people were also detained in these raids.
