Charges pressed against 6 war criminals

Prosecution on Sunday pressed specific charges against six alleged war criminals of Purbadhola of Netrokona for their involvement with crimes during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

The accused are Sheikh Abdul Majid alias Majid Maowlana, 66, Abdul Khaleque Talukder, 67, Kabir Khan, 70, Abdur Rahman, 70, Abdus Salam Beg, 68, and Nur Uddin alias Raddin, 70.

Of them, Abdur Rahman is in jail while others are on the run.

The prosecution submitted the charge sheets before the three-member bench headed by the ICT Chairman Justice Anwarul Haque.

The International Crimes Tribunal fixed June 12 for hearing for the next order.

The prosecution has brought seven charges of killing, mass killing, abduction, torture, looting, arson and rape against them.
