'Most wanted' Killed in 'gunfight' after surrender

A man was killed in a reported gunfight on Wednesday night after surrendering himself to police earlier in the day.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Belal, 43, son of Abdul Kader from Cumilla district and who lived at Lokoshade colony in Khulshi upazila.

The fugitive accused in 13 cases was killed in an alleged gunfight with police when they went to retrieve weapons at Jalalabad hill area of Khulshi upazila in Chittagong city with him at night.

Police claim that his accomplices tried to take away Belal who was arrested in the cross fire when a drive to retrieve weapons underway.
