Covered van crash kills 3 including ASI

Three people including an assistant sub-inspector of highway police were killed after a covered van hit them at Saidpur area of Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the dead hour on Monday.

The deceased are ASI of highway police Akter Hossen, the driver and helper of the covered van but the details about them were not known immediately. The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.

Abul Kalam Azad, In-charge of Miabazar outpost of highway police said, a Chittagong bound covered van lost its control and overturned at Saidpur area around 5am in the dawn killing the driver and helper of its own. When the highway police were recovering the damaged-covered van with a raker another covered van hit them injuring three policeman severely. ASI Akter Hossen was sent to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead and another two policemen sent to DMCH for better treatment.
