3 killed in Narsingdi textile factory fire

At least three people have been killed including a Pakistani citizen and twelve others were injured in a fire at a textile factory at Shilmandi area under Narsingdi Sadar upazila.

The incident took place at Mom Textile Mill in the area around 5:45 am on Saturday said, Narsingdi Police Super (SP) Amena Begum.

The deceased were identified as Pakistani national Ashiqur Rahman, 40, Chef Selim Miah, 33 and designer Ramzan Ali, 32.

The injured were admitted to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The SP also said, Firefighters brought the blaze under control in around two hours.

‘We suspect the electricity short-circuited, causing a fire in the storage room where dyes and paints were kept,’ Nazmul Islam, a deputy general manager of Mom Tex said.
