"Gunfights" kill 2 in Chuadanga and Chittagong
Two people were killed in different "gunfights" in Chuadanga and Chittagong. The gunfight happened with police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday.
There have been multiple cases of drugs, murder, robbery against the victims.
A deceased was identified as Rokon, who was killed in a gunfight with police in Chuadanga around midnight on Friday.
An incident took place at Joyarampur Kanthaltala on Chuadanga-Darshana road where Rokon was killed, the son of Abu Bakkar Siddique of South Chandpur village.
According to police, a group of patrol police on the Jairampur Kanthaltala in Damurhuda upazila could know on the basis of a secret information that a large quantity of drug was being sold in the area.
On receiving the news, the policemen rushed to the spot. At that time, drug peddlers fired shots at the police. Police also opened fire in self-defense.
At one point, when the drug peddlers retreated, the policemen went to the spot and found the identified drug dealer Rokon lying in the gunfire area.
After being rescued, he was taken to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital and the emergency department doctor declared him dead.
OC Sukumar Biswas of Damurhuda Police Station said the victim was identified as a drug dealer in Darshana area. There are 12 cases of narcotics, murder and extortion in Ramudhuda Model Police Station under the name of Rokon.
Police recovered narcotics and weapons from the scene.
Meanwhile, in another "gunfight" with RAB in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong a youth name Iran was killed. RAB claims Iran was a pirate. There have been five cases against him on various charges including murder, robbery. The "gunfight" took place around 8am on Friday in the East Chambal area of Bashkhali.
Iran was identified as the son of Siraj Prakash alias Siraj Fakir from East Chambal area.
Major Mehedi Hasan, Commander of RAB-7's Chandgaon camp said the RAB conducted a raid on the area around 8.30am in the morning against the pirates' in the Chambal area. During the raid, a gunfight between RAB and pirates happened.
At one point, when the bullets stopped, a body of the pirates was recovered from the spot. Six arms, ammunition and a domestic weapon including a foreign pistol, were recovered from the spot.
Recovering the bullet-hit body was sent to Chittagong Medical College for autopsy, he added.
