Ctg port asked to hoist danger signal 7

Maritime port of Chittagong has been asked to hoist signal no 7 while that of Cox’s Bazar no 6 and Mongla and Payra no 5 as  cyclonic storm ‘Roanu’ over west central Bay and adjoining area moved slightly north-northeastward over the same area.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northeasterly direction, Met office sources said.

It was centred at about 6am around 1205kms Southwest of Chittagong port, 1180 kms Southwest of Cox’s bazar port, 1025 kms Southwest of Mongla port and 1055 kms Southwest of Payra port, said a Met office bulletin.

The Met Office has advised fishermen staying in the South Bay and deep sea to remain close to the shores and not to venture afar into the sea until further notice.
