UPDF leader killed in Rangamati gunfight ‘with Army men’

A leader of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot dead during a reported gunfight with army men at Baghaihat Ujubazar in Baghaichhari upazila on Friday, reports UNB. 

The deceased was identified as Suman Chakma alias Lakir Baba, 40.

Md Shafiullah, acting police super of the district, said some UPDF members opened fire on army men of Baghaihat Zone while they were patrolling the area around 10:15 am, forcing them to fire back.

Later, he said, Suman’s body was recovered from the spot.

On Aug 18, an army member was killed in a gun attack by terrorists in Rajasthali upazila in the district. Terrorists opened fire on a patrol team of Bangladesh Army at Poaitukhum, some 4 kms off Rajasthali Army Camp.
