Asian Paper Mills ordered to shut for polluting Halda

The environment department has ordered Asian Paper Mills to shut down for polluting the Halda river by dumping waste in it.

Azadur Rahman Mallik, Director of Department of Environment (DoE) of Chattogram Division, issued the order following a hearing on the matter on Sunday.

The paper mill was declared shut as it failed to meet four conditions including construction of an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at their factory.

The DoE ordered factory owners to stop production until all these measures are taken.

The paper mill is located at Nondirhat area of Hathazari upazila in the district.
