Sholakia set to host a largest Eid congregation
Shokalia is all set to host one of the largest Eid-ul-Azha congregations on Monday, UNB reported.
Preparations have already been completed for smoothly holding the 192nd Eid-ul-Azha jamaat, said Deputy Commissioner of the district Sarwar Murshed Chowdhury, also president of Sholakia Eidgah Maidan managing committee.
There will be tight security measures in place to ensure safety of the devotees.
Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, superintendent of Kishoreganj police, said two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be deployed in and around the Eidgah ground alongside police and Rapid Action Battalion members.
On the Eid day on July 7, 2016, four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a militant attack on a temporary police check-post near Sholakia Eidgah.
This year, the Eid congregation will commence at 8:30am. Maulana Mohammad Hifzur Rahman, Khatib of Boro Bazar Markaz Mosque, will conduct the congregation.
Two special trains of Sholakia Express will operate on Bhairab-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj routes on the Eid day to facilitate the travel of Sholakia-bound devotees.
The Eidgah is situated on the northern bank of Norsunda River. Mannan Dad Khan, former Dewan of Haibatnagar in Kishoreganj, donated 4.35 acres of land through Waqf deeds in 1950 and now the Eidgah has an area of seven acres.
