Muggers killed a cattle trader at Kukhandi bypass in Katakhali area of the city early Thursday and looted Tk 2.5 lakh, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Jarip Mridha, 36, son of Alal Mridha of Singra upazila in Natore district.

Zillur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Katakhali Police Station, said Jarip along with his father and paternal uncle Mosharraf Hossain went to the cattle market in Rajshahi to buy.

Around 12:30am, the trio boarded a truck to go to Singra without purchasing any cattle from the market. Three people boarded the truck at Shah Makhdum area of the city.

At one stage, they miscreants tied up Jarip’s father and uncle with rope and hit him with a sharp weapon and took the money away. The man died on the spot.

The muggers later dumped the victims on the road.

A police patrol team found them and took them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
