2 suspected criminals killed in Bagura gunfight

Two suspected criminals were killed in a gunfight between two groups of criminals in Bhabanipur area under Sherpur upazila of the district early hours today, reports BSS. 

The deceased were identified as Dhanesh alias Sukumar, 38, son of Mantu Sarkar of Gaibandha Sadar upazila and Afzal Hossain, 55, son of Rajab Ali, resident of Singra upazila in Natore district.

Police sent a team to the spot around 1:30am after learning about the gunfight, said Sanatan Chakrabarty, Additional Superintendent of Bogura Police.

Gaziur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Sherpur Circle and Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sherpur Police Station led the team.

Later, police found Dhanesh and Afzal with gunshot wounds and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared them dead.

Police also said Afzal was wanted in 20 criminal cases and Dhanesh in 11 cases, OC said.

A shutter gun, a pipe gun and two bullets were recovered from the spot.
