Jago News and PRAN-RFL aid in Kurigram in the second phase

The floods are wiping out the eastern and northern parts around the country stranding the people for foods and cloths as the monsoon rains battered the areas fatally.

Several thousand people from the areas have been sheltered at some temporary camps where there were no enough foods and drinks.

To support the stranding people “Jagonews24.com” the leading news portal in Bangladesh has come forward with the financial help of the industry giant PRAN-RFL group as well as the previous years.

Forming an aid committee Jago News went to flood hit people in the northern region and distributed aids for the first phase in Lalmonirhat on Friday. As it was a 4-day bound aid project, the team distributed aids in Kurigram for the second phase on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, several hundred people were gathered in front of official building of Hatya union in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram to receive aid provided by Jago News. When the aid team arrived the spot, the villagers surrounded the aid workers and rushed the team to express their grief.

There were a couple of thousands family given the aids across the upazila.

Briefing at the aid distributing program Mohiudding Sarkar, Acting Editor of the Jagonews24.com said, the people from the northern part of our country suffering much as the flood damaged their last shelters and assets due to monsoon rains.

“We were standing beside the floods hit and marooned people as well as the previous year to distribute aids worth of tk 25 lakh among the victims. The aids are consisting foods, medicines and water including rice, dal, fried-rice, biscuits and oral saline”, he added.

An aged man named Akkas Ali said, they were marooned completely few days ago. They had no foods and beverage even the cookers were under water. It was difficult to cook buying an oven due to that they were starving sometimes.

“In the crisis moment, Jago News and PRAN-RFL group stood beside us with the helpful hands. They helped us to survive in this situation,” he added.

The four-day bound aid project which was kicked off from Teesta Barrage area in Lalmonirhat district would be continued through Nilphamari, Gaibandha and Sirajganj respectively.
