5 suspected Ansar Al Islam men of a family detained in Dhaka
Five suspected members of the banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam have been detained in capital in the wee hours of Saturday.
Anti-Terrorism Unit of police in a drive held them from 23 number house on 28 No road in Rupnagar residential area around 1:30 am.
The detainees are Ahmed Ali, 57, his wife Salma Ahmed, 50, their son Jakaria, 35, and Kibria, 30 and daughter Asma Ferdous Dipa, 25.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Police Superintendent of the unit Md Mahiduzzaman, said they were active members of the banned militant outfit.
He said sensing the presence of the drive, they attacked on police with home-made arms and exploded bombs. In reply, police fired back.
At that time, three police members were injured and bullet-hit militant Jakaria was detained and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he said.
Later, police recovered home-made arms and some jihadi books from the spot, the police official added.
