A student of Dhaka University (DU) died of dengue fever at a private hospital in the city on Friday night, reports UNB. 

The deceased was identified as Firoz Kabir, a student Finance Department of 2013-14 session.

Kabir, hailing from Thakurgaon, was also a resident student of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall of the university. 

Hall provost Prof Mofizur Rahman confirmed the death saying that Firoz Kabir was first admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) with dengue fever. 

Later, he was shifted to a private hospital where he breathed his last around 10 pm on Friday, he added.

Firoz, a friend Iqbal Hossain and also a student of Finance Department, told UNB that Firoz had been undergoing treatment at DMCH’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a week. He was shifted to Square Hospital on Thursday.
