2 journos among 4 burnt in Mogbazar shop blast

Four people including two journalists were burnt in an explosion inside a shop at Mogbazar intersection in the capital on Tuesday evening.

Of the victims, two journalist were identified as Fazlul Haque Shaon, Special Correspondent of Jago News and Mostafa Monowar Sujon, Assistant News Editor of SA Television.

They were admitted to Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Injured Shaon said: “They entered into the shop of their common friend opening the shutter and were hit by a blow of an explosion as soon as switching on an electric light around 7pm. Later, a worker of Ghorowa restaurant took them to the DMCH.”

Doctor Meherunnesa Liza, Medical Officer of the burn unit, said: “Shawon sustained 24 percent burn injuries while Sujon had 11 percent burn.”
