Accused hacked dead in court

A youth was hacked to death in a Cumilla court Monday morning. 

The incident took place in the Third Cognizance Court in the district around 11 am.

The deceased was identified as Faruk, son of Ohidur Rahman from Manohorgonj upazila and the suspected killer Hasan was detained immediately as they were brought to the court as accused men in a murder case, police said.

Confirming the news to Jago News, Salah Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station said, Faruk was sent to Cumilla General Hospital in a critical condition as he had been hacked by another accused in the court. Later, Faruk was declared dead by the on-duty doctors of the hospital.

Meanwhile, hearing the news, Superintendent of Cumilla Police Syed Nurul Islam visited the spot in a short time. He said, an investigation was underway how an accused man enter the court area with a knife as it’s a secured zone.
