A Dhaka court on Wednesday framed charges against two teachers who allegedly instigated Aritri Adhikari, a student of class nine of the Viqarunnesa Noon School and College to commit suicide.
Dhaka Third Additional Metropolitan Judge Robiul Alam framed the charges against the duo exempting another class teacher of the school Hasna Hena in the case.
Earlier on April 30, the court accepted the charge-sheet and a plea to exempt Hasna Hena from the allegation.
Kazi Kamrul Islam, Inspector of the DB police and also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge-sheet on 28 March to the general registry department of Palton Police Station. Besides, police also pleaded the class-teacher Hasna Hena to release from the allegation as she was not found guilty.
The student committed suicide on 3 December last year hanging with a ceiling fan. She was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where doctors declared her dead that triggered massive protest.
On the 4 December, a case was filed by Aritri’s father Dilip Adhikari alleging that the Principal of the school and college Najnin Ferdows, Chief of the morning shift Jinat Aktar and the class-teacher Hasna Hena instigated his daughter to commit suicide.
