4 hacked dead, attacker killed

At least four people including a mother and her son were hacked to death by a youth in broad daylight at Radhanagar village in Debidwar upazila of Cumilla on Wednesday morning. 

The attacker named Mokhlesur Rahman, 34, was killed by the agitated local people. 

The deceased are Anwara Begum, 40, wife of Shah Alam, her son, Abu Hanif, 12, Nazma Akter, 36, wife of Nurul Islam and her mother-in-law Majeda Begum.

According to police and locals, Mokhles hacked 6 to 7 people over pre-enmity, leaving three people dead on the spot around 11:30 am. Later the injured people were sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Majeda dead.  

In this connection, Jahirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Debidwar Police Station, said the dead bodies were kept at the hospital. The number of the deceased might be increased. The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately.
