Hasan Arefin, managing editor of the daily Natun Kagoj and an executive committee member of Jatiya Press Club, died of a cardiac arrest at a city hospital this morning. He was 60, reports BSS. 

His son Md Ferozul Ferdous told BSS that his father breathed last at Shaheed Suhrawardy hospital in the capital at about 9 am soon after he was taken there from his Mirpur residence with severe chest pain.

He left behind wife, one daughter and one son, a host of colleagues, friends, relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

He was the founding President of Dhaka-based Patuakhali Journalists Forum (PJF), former organizing secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU). He worked for several Bengali dailies and was former chief reporter of the daily Bartoman.

His body will be brought to Jatiya Press Club where his namaj-e-janaza will be held after Zuhr prayer.

Hasan Arefin will be buried at his family graveyard at Jolisha village in Dumki upazila of Patuakhali district.
