UP member hacked dead in B’baria

A union parishad member was hacked to death by the miscreants at Kasba upazila in Brahmanbaria in the wee hours of Saturday. 

The deceased was identified as Md Shawkot alias Jasim, son of Golam Mostofa, member of No 1 ward of Mehari union parishad. 

Shawkot’s daughter Jidny Akter said, someone called his father and he came out of home on Friday noon. He phoned at home around 8:15 pm and said he was coming. Later, it was learnt that he was beat up and kept at Jamuna government primary school. 

He was first sent to Kasba upazila health complex and then to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, his daughter added. 

Brahmanbari Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kasba circle) Abdul Karim said, it is suspected that he was killed over establishing supremacy.
