3 to die, 7 get life for murder in Kishoreganj
A Kishoreganj court has sentenced three people to death and seven others to life-term imprisonment in sensational murder case of Ershadul Islam Chayan.
Judge Md Abdur Rahim of First Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court, passed the order on Wednesday around 10:30 am.
The court also fined all accused Tk 5 lakh each.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Joggeswar Roy confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The death-row convicts are Abdul Awal, Al Amin and Sufol. Of them, only Awal is in jail.
The accused who got life-term imprisonment are Abdul Karim, Safia Khatun, Abdul Kadir Fakir, Sohel, Ripa Akter, Johura Khatun alis Anufa and Abdur Rawf Fakir alias Rup Miah.
According to the case statement, Chayan, son of Johirul Islam Ratan, of Tansidla village in Hossainpur upazila, was killed over family feud on December 2, 2005.
Later his father filed a case with Hossainpur Police Station against nine people.
On February 28, 2006, police submitted a charge sheet to the court against eleven people. One Aminul Haque alias Hira was acquitted in the case as he died during the case proceedings.
