Cop to seek remand for Aslam

Detective Branch of Police will seek remand for detained BNP Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury on charge of sedition.

Shaikh Nazmul Alam, deputy commissioner of Detective Branch (north division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said he will be sought for a 10-day remand.

Though law enforcers arrested Aslam under section 54, they had documents against him regarding anti-state activities.

The law enforcers on Sunday evening detained Aslam from Kuril area of the capital over his meeting with Israeli secret services Mossad.

Chittagong-based businessman Aslam came under the severe criticism both in and outside the party after several photographs went viral in social media showing him with Mendi N Safadi, a leader of Israel’s Likud Party and chief of International Diplomacy and Public Relations.
