3 survivors in Tunisia boat capsize return home
Three Bangladeshi survivors of a migrant boat capsize in the Mediterranean Sea off Tunisia returned home today.
A Turkish Airlines flight brought the survivors in Dhaka at 5:38am, said Tanveer Hossain, assistant director of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training of the Expatriates’ Welfare Desk of the airport.
They are Mahfuz Ahmed, Billal Ahmed and Bahadur.
Around 60 migrants, most of whom from Bangladesh, died after a boat carrying them capsized in the Mediterranean Sea after it left Libya for Italy on May 9.
On May 21, 15 Bangladeshi migrants survived in the boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast, returned home.
Bangladesh government in association with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has repatriated the Bangladeshi migrants.
