Mango harvesting begins in Rajshahi on May 15

Mango harvesting is going to start in Rajshahi from May 15 in the current season of the delicious fruit, reports BSS.

The decision has been taken in a meeting related to mango harvesting, preservation and marketing held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner here today.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ruhul Amin, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension Shamsul Haque, Upazila Chairmen Layeb Uddin Lavlu and Fakhrul Islam.

According to the decision of the meeting, the farmers concerned can pluck indigenous varieties from May 15, Gopalbogh from May 20, Khirshapat from May 28, Lakhna from May 25, Langra from June 5, Amropaly from June 16, Fazly and Surma Fazly from June 16 and Ashwina from July 1. 

Deputy Commissioner urged all concerned to follow the time-frame for the sake of public interests.

In addition to all Upazila Chairmen and Upazila Nirbahi Officers, large number of mango farmers and traders joined the meeting.
