Cyclone Fani: Death toll rises to 14

The death toll rose to 14 following the cyclonic storm Fani that began on Friday. 

In Barguna, Nur Jahan, 50, and her grandson Zahidul, 16, died after a tree fell on their home when they were asleep around 3 am on Saturday at Charduani village in Patharghata upazila.

In Noakhali, a two-year-old child died in a wall collapse in Subarnachar upazila in the wee hours of today.

The deceased was identified as Md Ibrahim, son of Abdur Rahman from Char Aminul Haque village in the upazila.

In Bhola, housewife Rani Begum was killed as a house collapsed on her at Poralia village in Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

In Kishoreganj, six people were killed after being struck by lightning in three upazilas of Kishoreganj district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Sumon Mia, 7, son of Ebad Mia of Kurarkandi village of Mithamain upazila; Moinuddin, 22, son of Md Golap Mia of Biramchar village; Asad Mia, 45, son of Ali; Nururnahar, 30, daughter of Halim Uddin; Muzibur Rahman, 45, son of Inchan of Pakundiya upazila; and Rubel Das, 26, son of Rakesh Das of Kathuir village of Itna upazila.

In Netrokona, a farmer was killed after being struck by lightning while cutting paddy in haor in Madan upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Barek, 35, son of late Romali, of Monika Poschim Para village at Govindasri union in the upazila. 

In Bagerhat, a gust of wind caused a tree branch to break and land on a woman in Bagerhat, resulting in her death on Friday noon.

Shaharun Begum, 35, was working near her home in Ranjitpur when she fell victim to the accident.

In Brahmanbaria, a youth was killed in lightning while cutting paddy at Bogdohor village at Purba union in Nabinagar upazila on Fridaty evening. 

The deceased was identified Apel Miah, 20, son of Urmuj Ali.
