7 killed in road accidents in 3 districts
At least seven people were killed and twenty others injured in road accidents in three districts on Thursday.
In Rajshahi, at least three people were killed and twelve others injured as a bus lost control and overturned after being hit by a three-wheeler at Meerganj bazar in Bagha upazila around 7 am.
The deceased are bus helper Abu Hanif, 28, Monwara Begum, 42, Badal Bewa, 65.
Mohsin Ali, officer-in-charge of Bagha Police Station, said a Rajshahi-bound Rabby enterprise bus lost control and overturned after a three-wheeler hit it. A bus helper and two passengers died on the spot.
On information, police and fire service rescued 12 injured people and sent them to Bagha and Charghat upazila health complex.
In Bagerhat, at least three people were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a Mahindra on Khulna-Mongla highway at Manidanga area in Rampal upazila around 7 am.
All the victims are the passengers of Mahindra, said Moloy Roy, Sub-Inspector of Rampal Highway Police Station.
Two of the deceased were identified as Sohag Sheikh, 35 and Sanjit Roy, 47.
In Laximpur, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed when a truck rammed it at Uttar Temohoni Station area in the district.
The deceased is Dukhu Miah, hailing from Ramganj upazila.
Solaiman, Inspector of Laximpur police outpost, said the truck was seized after the accident but it driver and his helped managed to flee away.
