3 Rohingya militants jailed for 10 years

A Dhaka court has sentenced three Myanmar nationals, who are the members of a militant outfit of the country, to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in a case filed under the Explosives Act. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal-4 Judge Md Rabiul Alam passed the order on Sunday.

The court also fined Tk 10 thousand each of them; in default of which they would have to stay in jail for six months.

The convicts are Md Nur Hossain alias Rafiqul Islam, 30, Yeasir Arafat, 26 and Omor Karim, 29. Of them, Omor, son of late Abul Bosor, hailing from Myanmar’s Akia district, is on run. 

According to the case statement, a detective police team arrested Nur and Yasir with explosives from Yatimkhana road in the capital’s Lalbagh on November 30 in 2014. Later four others people including Omor managed to flee away from the scene. Later DB Sub Inspector SM Raisul Islam filed a case against them with Lalbagh Police Station on December 1.
