Nusrat murder probe on right track: HC

The High Court (HC) today said the investigation in the case lodged over murder of Sonagazi madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi is on the right track and it would not interfere in the probe at this stage.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader said these while holding hearing on a writ filed seeking judicial investigation over the incident, reports BSS.

“We are not seeing any negligence in the probe from the part of government. Prime Minister herself is monitoring the matter. Probe being carrying out by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is going on correctly. So we don’t want to interfere at this stage, which could hamper their investigation,” the High Court said.

The court later set April 28 for further hearing the writ.

Supreme Court lawyer Eunus Ali Akand filed the writ on April 17, seeking judicial investigation and compensation for Nusrat’s family.

Nusrat was set on fire on April 6 by miscreants and succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.

Nusrat had accused Sirajuddoula of harassing her sexually on March 27 while she was exposed to his extreme vengeance on April 6 when she went to the madrasa to appear in Alim examination.

A group of masked youths, who were actually principal’s stooges, took Nusrat to the rooftop of the madrasa and set her on fire after tying her with her scarf.
